We have recently had a new contract awarded by MSD to provide financial mentoring (formerly called Budgeting) for people with high needs. This contract (called BFC Plus) by the ministry, adds to our ability to reach out to people who are the most desperate in our community. We have had discussions with Dept. of Corrections and have started offering this service through their offices one day a week. We had over the years built a good relationship with corrections, and have been running some of our programmes from their offices over the past year. We were also awarded a Community partnership award by Corrections last year, so it seemed the logical next step to offer our services there. By being based there we felt we could offer an on the spot service which is important if trying to engage with people who have high needs. We look forward to continuing to develop this relationship, and that our service continues to give hope to the people most in need.
