These services provide after-hours help and advice in an emergency or crisis situation:

If you have immediate safety concerns for yourself or anyone else. Available 24 hrs, 7 days per week.

Child Youth & Family Phone: 0508 FAMILY (0508 326 459)
If you are worried about the safety of a child or young person, this number will put you in touch with a social worker. Available 24 hrs, 7 days per week.

Are You OK? Helpline Phone: 0800 456 450
This helpline provides information and can put you in touch with services in your area for those experiencing or witnessing family violence. The helpline operates 365 days per year from 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m.

Women’s Refuge Phone: 0800 REFUGE (0800 733 843)
If you are a victim of family violence or are concerned about someone in a violent relationship, this number can provide information, advice and support about family violence. The helpline is available 24 hrs, 7 days per week.

Shine (Safe Homes in NZ Every Day) Phone: 0508 744 633
If you are a victim of family violence or are concerned about someone in a violent relationship, this helpline is available 7 days per week from 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m.

A crisis line for women of African, Asian and Middle Eastern descent, and their children. Provides ability to discuss safety options in languages other than English. Available 24 hrs, 7 days per week.

Provides on-call assessment and short-term treatment for anyone experiencing a serious mental health crisis, i.e. suicidal thoughts or actions, and for whom there are urgent safety issues. Available 24 hrs, 7 days per week.

Lifeline Aotearoa 0800 543 354
Helpline to access free confidential support and counselling via phone. For those suffering psychological and emotional distress, financial and work issues, marriage and family problems, loneliness, illness, depression, violence or abuse. 24 hrs, 7 days per week.

Suicide Crisis Helpline 0508 TAUTOKO (0508 828 865)
Provides support, information and resources for those at risk of suicide, family/whanau/friends affected by suicide, and people supporting those with suicidal thoughts or behaviours. 24 hrs, 7 days per week. (If you feel they are in immediate danger call 111).

Kidsline 0800 543 754
Telephone counselling service for kids up to 18 years of age. Counsellors are secondary school students who provide support and encouragement for the problem being experienced. Available 24 hrs, 7 days per week.

Free phone advice from trained registered nurses. Available 24 hrs, 7 days per week.
