We have been very busy at Catholic Family Support services over the past few months. Both our Financial mentors and our Family Support services have had a large number of referrals. We do not ever like turning people away and have done our best to continue providing our service. This has meant that we have been working under stress for some time now. We decided to remedy this situation, by taking a day out to refresh, recoup and reenergize ourselves for the rest of the year. We decided we would travel to Tauranga Moana to look at the service offered there by Sharon -our social worker in that region. Staff were really impressed with the model of work that she has developed with the local parishes. The parish based service has meant that our service is much more closely connected to the local communities, and we were all impressed with the possibilities that opens. We now are reflecting on how we could perhaps develop a variation on this theme for Hamilton and longer term, in other regions.
